Lean Six Sigma Training Program
Introducing Vincent Mirabelli CBAP PMP who has joined the Bob the BA and The Uncommon League team to lead our new Lean Six Sigma Program. We're excited to have Vincent onboard for our exciting new approach to modern collaborative approaches for Lean Six Sigma and the Business Analyst.
There is one thing that is common to all businesses, sectors, and industries; decisions. This is a vital part of how we operate, strategize, and grow. However, those decisions, and the results that follow, are often based solely on intuition and/or experience; based largely on feeling. With Lean Six Sigma, we aim to remove the personal and political element inherent in business, by quantifying your pain points, and using tools that are central to the methodology, provide a means of determining your probabilities of success. That’s not to say that intuition and feeling are a bad thing. We don’t want to eliminate this “tribal knowledge” from the discussion. Instead, we are going to use this as a jumping off point, after which we will use data to guide the process, using these probabilities as a means of quantifiable validation, which will inform all of our decisions.
The ultimate goal is to get your company’s systems, products and processes as close to perfection as possible, with a high level of quality, balanced with minimal process variation.
What is Lean Six Sigma?
Lean Six Sigma is a structured, data driven methodology that can be applied to any aspect of business; to improve customer satisfaction, to eliminate waste and to increase profit and productivity. Central to this is the idea that, where work is being done, waste is being generated. It would stand to reason then, that the more waste, the greater the chance of providing a poor or inconsistent customer experience, have longer cycle and lead times, and increased likelihood of quality issues, such as defect. All of this translates into one thing - profit loss.
Through classroom instruction, and available in-house support and deployment of the Six Sigma tools throughout your business, your Belt candidates will learn how to identify and quantify problems, then turning those problems into a solution, all guided by logic and data.
Our Lean Six Sigma Product
It’s actually quite simple…Lean Six Sigma will help you be better.
By introducing a new way of thinking and practically solving problems into your business, we are able to start breaking down barriers in your company’s culture, to move to an improved way of doing business. All our students are trained, and encouraged, to think with data “outside-the-box”, eliminating “I think” and “I feel” from their problem-solving vocabulary.
Practical Lean Six Sigma thinking and methods are transferred into the heart of what drives your business; your people. Our aim is not to do the work for you, but rather, teach you how to solve problems yourselves. Our approach is to empower your employees with the tools they need to be successful. And their success means your businesses success.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Green Belt course include the IASSC Green Belt certification exam?
No, as our program is not affiliated with IASSC. There are many providers of Lean Six Sigma training, of which IASSC is one. At Bob the BA, we are looking to add value to our students professional lives, through the offering of Lean Six Sigma training that is aligned to the original methodology.
Do students also get access to the online course version in case we want to re-watch materials / learn in a different way?
When your register for any Bob the BA course you get a recording of the webinar. This recording is available to you free of charge. You can download the recording 1-2 days after the course is finished and video is rendered. We will email you link to download the MP4 file. The MP4 file ranges in size from 250 – 350 MBs on average and can take a few minutes to download. We recommend a high speed connection when downloading files of this size.
And how long would we have access to such materials for?
Once the materials are downloaded they are yours to keep forever. The recording is licensed to you as an individual. The license doesn’t allow you to publicly play the recording or give the recording to others. The legal stuff we have to say: The recording is for personal use only. Streaming, posting on Social Media, Reselling the recording, or public presentation of the recording in whole or part is prohibited.
So belt certification is granted by an instructor - not a standard exam from a recognized organization?
That's correct. There is no global, overarching certification body for Lean Six Sigma. As a result, any Master Black Belt has the ability to certify other belt students. But don't get that twisted. Any one can read a book, study for an exam, and pass. That's why we stress practical application; learning by, first learning, and then doing, particularly at the Green and Black levels, as these are expected to be project leads and experienced, capable practitioners.
What are the benefits of taking the GB in person vs just online instruction?
We offer live instructor led webinars and public session for this course. Virtual or public courses depends on the individual’s learning preferences. Instructor led courses all provide the student with time to interact with the instructor to ask more direct questions and to utilize their experience in helping you further understand an issue you are currently having.
Are you required to obtain the belt certifications sequentially?
Not at all. You can proceed up the ladder, or jump straight to Green or Black; the choice is yours.
What prep work is needed for Six Sigma Saturdays or Six Sigma Courses?
None! (Ok, you can breathe a sigh of relief)
Does yellow belt training include white belt training?
Yellow Belt training will include all material from any earlier belt; in this case, White. Green Belt training will include material from both White and Yellow. The content is designed to give you the level of depth you want, while making it easy to continue learning should you choose.
Does Green belt include yellow and white belts?
Yes. Green belt training covers the same topics but in greater detail and depth. As you progress through the belts the training becomes more and more detailed.
Is there a difference between Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma belts?
No, at the Uncommon League they are interchangeable. We focus the training on being effective and efficient in process improvement.
